The basic requirements for the performance of taphole clay are as follows: good plasticity, the extruded mud is a dense mud column, without fracture or loose; Good trickling, smooth extrusion into the iron hole, no obstruction, sintering at the iron hole to a certain extent, forming mud bag, protect the lining body inside the iron hole.

 

The construction performance requirements are usually measured by machaire value, which is generally required to be 0.45mpa ~ 1.40mpa. According to the different binder, it can be divided into water Taphole clay and anhydrous Taphole clay.

 

Water Taphole clay:

The early development of a kind of mortar, because of the production process is simple, low price, now some small and medium blast furnaces are in use. In large and medium blast furnaces, water blast mud is only used in a short period of time in the case of accidents such as opening or freezing of the pit and abnormal iron extraction. Before use, mud squeezers are generally used to squeeze cylindrical mud blocks. When used, mud blocks are put into the mud gun and then squeezed into the iron mouth.

 

According to the conditions of use, the proportion of various raw materials used for taphole clay fluctuates greatly, and the general fluctuation range is as follows: the proportion of aluminum clay clinker and clay clinker is 50%-60%, the proportion of coke and silicon carbide is 15%-25%, the proportion of soft clay is 10%-15%, the proportion of high temperature asphalt is 5%-10%, and the proportion of additives is 3%-5%. Its particle size composition is approximately: 3mm~0.21mm 35%~45%, <0.21mm 55%~65%. Additives are expansion agent (generally with kyanite or quartz sand), lubricant (graphite or wax powder) and burning agent (generally with feldspar minerals). To have the physical and chemical properties of water stemming requirements: chemical composition of w (AI2O3) = 2 5% ~ 35%, w (SiO2) = 35% ~ 50%, w (C + SiC) = 15% ~ 25%. Physical properties: volume density (1300°C, 3h)1.6~1.85g/cm 3, significant porosity (1300°C, 3h)30%~35%, Compressive strength (1300°C, 3h) 3.5mpa ~ 5.6mpa, line change rate (1300°C, 3h)+ 0.2%-2.0%, Macia value 0.45mpa ~ 1.4mpa.
